Flights to Alanya Gazipasa Airport
This is a long waited announcement by who seeks alternative flight routes to Antalya. DHMI announced Alanya Gazipasa Airport will be available for flights to Antalya on July 13. It means that the airport is ready for both domestic and international flights. We expect that airport will increase tourism activities in Gazipasa, Anamur and Alanya. It will also solve transportation problems of the region and that region will be an attractive area for new tourism investments.
Gazipasa airport located in eastern Antalya. The construction started in 1992. The plan was to serve the Alanya region in general as far as the historic town of Anamur. Completing the construction of Gazipasa Airport took more than 10 years. The dilemma about its location generated many newspaper stories about criticism of officials for miscalculating the risks of the location. As the massive investment was totally abandoned, people started to use the airport area to plant vegetables.
Finally the airport could be operational after a successful bidding process brought TAV, that won the Gazipasa Airport, to eastern Antalya.
